Only for some asylum status holders under the 2013 act
The changes apply only to some asylum status holders that are required to integrate under the 2013 civic integration act. You can read which asylum status holders are involved in our earlier news item: Judge asks questions about 2013 civic integration act. The changes apply to people that are integrating and that have already received a decision about a fine or loan. Are you required to integrate under the 2021 civic integration act? Or are you a family migrant or other migrant? If so, this information is not meant for you.
Changes
DUO is working on changes in their system. These are temporary. These temporary changes will last at least until the European Court has given a ruling about the 2013 civic integration act.
What to do
Are you part of the group of people mentioned before? DUO will send you a letter between 5 March and 30 April 2024. The letter says which changes apply to you. You do not have to take any action, the changes will take effect automatically. If you are required to integrate, you need to continue your integration as usual.
Further information
The European Court will probably give a ruling before the end of 2024, possibly earlier. As soon as there is a ruling, DUO will share this information in a news item.
Questions
If you have questions already, DUO understands. But we cannot help you yet. Please wait if you receive a letter between 5 March and 30 April 2024. DUO will be able to help you better with the information in your letter. If you do not receive a letter, nothing changes for you. Either way, you need to continue your integration as usual.
